Hope currently studying students will get clarity soon.

I have been getting many inquiries related to negative Skills Assessment outcomes from ACWA despite students studying an Accredited course. The main reason given is the Placement not meeting the requirements and that these students to work at least 3 months in relevant field.

ACWA being the Skills Assessing body has the final say in this and we must respect that. However, students who did these accredited courses were told that they will get an easy Skills Assessment once they complete their studies. If something changed in between the time they started and completed their courses- were they properly informed by their education provider and/or ACWA. Could something have been done while they were studying? Now the questions these students ask me is how and when are they ggoing to find jobs in relevant field. In such a tight job market, will they ever find a job? Will they be able to get a positive Skills Assessment? If not – their time and money will go down the drain.

I understand graduates should have the necessary skills to find jobs post their studies. But these are international students we are talking about. They do not have full-time working rights and this is the main hurdle for them to find a job.

I have been thinking about this for the past 3-4 days. I do not see a way out. I have actually stopped suggesting this course to students as a PR pathway unless they can find a job in their field after completion of studies. I hope ACWA and respective providers give clarifications on these issues soon and students have clarity and surety to make a career as well as get Australian Permanent Residency through this course.

Till then- I might just suggest something else if any internationsl student wants to make a PR pathway plan.

There is nothing to smile about for those who have already got a negative result. But Still would like to tell them to

Keep Smiling and Take care of your visa.
